4 Days Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari
The endless plains of the Serengeti and the wildlife-packed floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, Africa's most celebrated safari duo.
Rwanda is one of Africa's great success stories — spotless, safe and spectacularly green — and home to mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and chimpanzees. This six-day journey strings the three headline primate experiences together with comfortable lodges and a private vehicle.
Permits are the hardest part of any gorilla trip; AMSIR secures them for your dates so there is nothing to chase. Trekking can be strenuous at altitude, but porters are available and the reward is an unforgettable hour in the company of a gorilla family.
Meet your driver-guide at Kigali International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Use the afternoon to rest, or take an optional city tour of Kigali's markets and craft centres. Evening briefing on the trek ahead.
Begin with a respectful visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then drive north through the "Land of a Thousand Hills" to the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes. Check in and rest ahead of tomorrow's trek.
After a briefing at park headquarters you'll be assigned a gorilla family and hike into the bamboo and montane forest. Spend a magical hour observing the gorillas, then hike back for a well-earned lunch and a relaxed afternoon.
A shorter, easier trek to find the playful golden monkeys in the bamboo forest, then a long scenic drive across Rwanda to Nyungwe through tea country. Arrive at your forest lodge by evening.
Set out before dawn to track chimpanzees through the rainforest. After lunch, walk the 70-metre-high suspension canopy walkway above the treetops. Dinner is served with a view over the tea plantations.
A relaxed morning, then the drive back to Kigali with a stop at the Ethnographic Museum in Huye. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
